Kevin Franklin
Owner Operator
Kevin cut his teeth in construction from wee-bitty when his Dad showed him how to build and work with tools throughout his childhood.
This was the impetus of a lifelong career in remodeling. He’s a true artisan, crafting memorable experiences for clients from the beginning of conceptual designing to his meticulous refinement of the finishes touches at project completion
MEET KEVIN
After graduating from Bradley University in Construction Management, Kevin held a variety of project management and sales roles in both residential and commercial construction.
Having an eye for design and a thirst for greater creativity, Kevin launched his first of now two design build remodeling companies. After several years of growing his first company, he sold it and launched HomeMatters where he focuses strictly on larger residential renovations. He’s held positions with home remodeling councils and serves his community in a variety of non-profit endeavors.
When asked what he loves most about his work, Kevin finds joy in the unique challenges of each remodel, the interactions with diverse people, and the fulfillment of turning clients’ dreams into reality. While Kevin’s innovative approach shapes every project, he attributes the ongoing success of HMDB to the collective expertise, creativity, and professionalism of both the team and long-standing Trade Partners.
Kevin is a consummate techy and is relentless in finding ways to apply new processes and technology towards making everything a bit better. His drive for continued improvement is fueled by his personal mission, “to remove obstacles from peoples’ lives.”
Mary Mattingly
Project Management
Mary plays the critical role of orchestrating all the plans to ensure our Trade Partners and Clients are fully informed and ready for their part of the home renovation. Her daily presence on the jobsite underscores her unwavering commitment to ensure plans are underway and the lives of our clients are disrupted as minimally as possible. You will never have to wonder about what’s coming next, who is there at your home, or a construction site in disarray because Mary is front and center, keeping you constantly informed.
Mary has been with the HMDB team now for over six years, has a Bachelors in Business Administration, and years of production management experience in varying industries. She works her magic as she coordinates many moving parts while advancing projects towards the finish line.

Mary’s favorite story to tell is from the days of COVID when HomeMatters showcased ingenuity in remodeling an attic while the homeowners resided and worked elsewhere in the house. With steadfast determination atop a three-story lift, Mary and team accessed the attic from the exterior of the home. Busting through the interior wall to reveal a gorgeous new home office reminiscent of a scene from HGTV.
